Of course you can also just update and install to macOS Big Sur if you want to, but not everyone is ready to do that, or want’s to do that, and that’s OK too. As mentioned earlier, you’ll also miss out on dynamic wallpapers, a feature that gradually shifts the wallpaper depending on the time of the day. That being said, since you’re downloading these pictures manually, macOS won’t automatically switch between the two wallpapers when you switch from Light mode to Dark mode. This has been the case with the introduction of macOS Mojave back in 2018. This is because those wallpapers come in pairs for both the Light appearance and Dark appearance modes that macOS Big Sur has to offer. You may have noticed that some of the images appear to be a darker version of the same image. Later, they added even more with another software update, with some overlap to iOS and iPadOS, and we’ll post those too. However, Apple recently added a bunch of new wallpapers with the tenth beta of macOS Big Sur and as you can see, the updated collection looks better than ever. When macOS Big Sur was first released to developers and public beta testers back in July, only four new wallpapers were made available. Now, you can use these images as wallpapers even if you haven’t updated your Mac to the latest version of macOS. Then, save the image to your computer from the web browser and you’ll be able to set the image as the desktop background on your Mac, iOS device, Android, or Windows PC.Īnd from macOS Big Sur 11.0.1 onward, even more default wallpapers were included: Therefore, regardless of whether you’re using a MacBook, iMac, Mac Pro, or even a Windows PC, these wallpapers are good enough to fill up your entire screen without any degradation in image quality.Ĭlick on any of the images below or open the links in a new tab to access the image files in full resolution. Getting your hands on one of these wallpapers is not nearly as hard as you may think as we have sourced them for you in full resolution. Through some sort of divine intervention, the pilot turned out to be the same pilot who flew Apple’s photographer over the coast to capture the image. And so, Levitt, Phillips, and Gray contacted a local helicopter pilot to assist them in capturing the shot. On top of that, restrictions are currently in place that forbids the flying of drones over the Big Sur coast. The group did some mild research and determined that the photo wouldn’t be viable to take with a drone. That said, the trio of friends didn’t back down from the challenge. The official photo was taken at an elevation of 4,000 feet over the ocean. Big Sur’s wallpaper showcases California’s Central Coast. According to MacRumors, the group set out once more following WWDC within a week’s time with no preparation, just one goal: recreate Big Sur’s wallpaper. They have now successfully recreated all of Apple’s default wallpapers. The group had previously gone out and shot recreations of the macOS Catalina on Catalina Island. The group including YouTuber and photographer Andrew Levitt was joined by Jacob Phillips and Taylor Gray to recreate the new macOS wallpaper shortly after its unveiling at WWDC. Three friends embarked on a mission to recreate Apple’s macOS Big Sur wallpaper.
